Today we mourn one of the World’s brightest stars. Whitney Houston was not only one of my favourite singers EVER, she was also the golden girl of the music industry and one of the biggest selling artists of all time. I bet if you asked anyone in the modern World to sing a line from a song by Whitney, they would easily croon “And I ….. will always love you!” or “The greatest love of all … is happening to me!”. And her success didn’t just stop with music, she also starred in movies such as ‘The Bodyguard’ and ‘Waiting to Exhale’. She was the perfect voice, the perfect image and an inspiration to younger females on an international scale. But her story is, sadly, not without its flip side! Her illicit drug use was and remains a stunningly cautionary tale. Her once angelic voice became hoarse and raspy; and she appeared no longer able to hit the high notes as she had in her prime. But despite the misdemeanors that have fuelled her tumultuous life, I’m confident that this amazing lady’s legacy – her remarkable contribution to music – will outweigh the memories of her fragile soul. The whole World will miss you Whitney!
